Passport and Visa Requirements British citizens permanently resident in the U.K. may travel to Thailand as tourists and a 30 day visa is normally issued on arrival on presentation of their full (10 year) passport. The passport must be valid for six months beyond their date of return. Many shops and large stores open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm. Government offices are generally open between 8.30am and 4.30pm with a noon to 1pm lunch break, Monday to Friday except on public holidays. Banks are open Mondays to Fridays from 9.30am to 3.30pm except on public holidays.
