Travel within Bangkok Getting around Bangkok is easy. Fortunately the Thais accept that the rest of the world will never understand their strange script and they’ve translated all necessary signs into English. (This doesn’t apply to rural Thailand). The heat, combined with the humidity and pollution, makes walking a sizable distance in Bangkok almost impossible, however since the completion of the Skytrain and more recently the Subway system, travel times have reduced dramatically. Both have very limited networks, the skytrain is overhead, the subway beneath the ground, however both are pleasant to use. To complete your journey within town we would suggest taxis. They are cheap and plentiful, although there are a lack of seatbelts and licensing requirements for drivers are minimal. Buses should be left to the locals. |
